The Constitutional Reforms Committee set up by the Government of Pakistan is engaged in the process of preparing recommendations to restore the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan in its true spirit and to submit its suggestions before the Parliament.

In order to make the process inclusive and participatory, and ensure ownership and consensus of all stakeholders, the Government has also invited the civil society to offer their proposals and recommendations.

The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) is keen to use this opportunity to suggest concrete amendments focused on women’s rights as equal citizens.

To deliberate on this pertinent issue, and in order to evolve a collective position, NCSW  has invited lawyers, legislators, gender experts and other members of the civil society for a Consultative Meeting on Constitutional Reforms with a focus on the rights of women.
The proposed recommendations derived from the meeting will be forwarded to the Government of Pakistan and pursued to ensure their incorporation in the final draft.
